ABU DHABI INFORMATION
- Passengers should hold a British passport valid for six months on their return
- Any passenger not holding a British passport needs to check with the UAE Embassy in London to see if a visa is required
- Photography: Normal photos are fine, but not government buildings, military installations or UAE national women.
- Electricity: Same as the UK/Ireland with 220-240 volts, 50Hz with 3 pin plug
- Alcohol: Is served in licensed hotels and restaurants in hotels and sports clubs only
- Language: Arabic, but English is widely spoken and understood, as are other languages such as Hindi and Urdu
- Health: No vaccinations are required but some over the counter medicines, including Codeine, are restricted in the UAE. Visitors taking these restricted medicines should take a doctor’s letter/copy of the prescription, keep the medicine in its original packaging and only take an appropriate quantity for the length of stay.
- Time Difference: 3 hours ahead of British Summer Time
- Can I drink the water? Tap water is safe to drink but bottled water is widely available.
- Currency: The local currency is the UAE Dirhams, divided into 100 fils
